How to Plan for an Interview

As you reach your final years of school, more responsibility and independence comes your way. As you start applying for college and scholarships, many require interviews to evaluate if you’re the right fit for that scholarship/university.

Here are some tips and tricks to ace your 1:1 interview:

  1. Dress professional
  • For Boys- wear a suit or khakis with a button-down shirt and a tie
  • For Girls- wear an appropriate length dress/skirt with a blouse or a dress suit
  • For all- make sure to wear clean, professional-looking foot attire. No toes showing. Minimal makeup/jewelry, and clean nails.

  1. Hygiene
  • Make sure you shower and spend extra time styling your hair and brushing your teeth before an interview. Try to stay away from very strong scents.

  1. Greeting
  • Make sure you smile and give a firm handshake. Interviewers always remember the first impression
  • Present a formal resume/portfolio
  • Thank the interviewer in a professional email
