October College Drive - Class of 2019

Our Guidance Department will be hosting a series of events for our first-ever October “College Drive” throughout the the month of October for all students and families in the Class of 2019:

Week of October 1st - “Application Essay Week”
Mr. Bakey will be visiting all English IV classes.  He will field questions about all post-secondary planning avenues including colleges, military enlistment, and technical school registration.

Mrs. Egerton will have all Seniors complete an essay aimed at one of the Common App prompts or another application prompt of their choice.

Week of October 8th - “Application Boot Camp”
Guidance staff & Ms. Donohue will be in the Media Center each day throughout this week to support students in completing their college applications during the common lunch period.

October 10th - Financial Aid Information Session
Mike Chando, a representative of HESSA who also is the Director of Admissions & Financial Aid at Rowan College at Gloucester County, will come to GHS at 7 p.m. to provide families with a summary of the financial aid application requirements.

Week of October 15th - “What is EOF & Student Resume 101” 
Senior Study Hall Presentation

October 15th - Financial Aid Workshop
Mike Chando will return to GHS at 7 p.m. to meet with families and support them as they complete all financial aid forms in A1.

Week of October 22nd - Scholarship Fair
Seniors will be able to review information from all national, state, and private scholarships that have contacted us and many others.  A Google Classroom will be created to share scholarship information with Seniors throughout the year.  Information about various scholarship search engines will also be shared.

Please make sure to emphasize with the Seniors you are close with to be active participants in each one of these activities as they will quickly find themselves running out of time to make post-graduation plans.
