October 11th: PSAT & SAT School Day Testing

October 11th: PSAT & SAT School Day Testing

We are very excited to inform you that we have been approved to administer the PSAT to all of our 9th through 11th grade students and the SAT to our 12th grade students during our school day on Wednesday, October 11th.  Additionally, we will continue to cover the cost of this testing for all families as we have done with the PSAT in years past.

We feel that participating in these international assessments is a critical step along the way to "college and career readiness" for all students.  We also know from experience and countless conversations with college admissions representatives that an improvement as slight as 100 points on a student's combined SAT score could result in that student receiving thousands of more dollars in merit scholarship money from a college or university's financial aid office.  Instructionally, having all of our students take these College Board assessments provides us with data of the utmost value on our student population's performance indicating areas of strength and areas in need of improvement.

In order for us to administer these tests to all high school students, October 11th has been changed to an early dismissal schedule for students.  We anticipate testing rooms to finish between noon and 1 p.m.  Students will test in their homeroom location.  Once each homeroom's tests have been collected, students will be permitted to proceed to the cafeteria for lunch and will be dismissed afterwards.

We are very proud that we have arrived at this destination which will ensure all GHS students take either the PSAT and SAT each school year.  We thank you for your continued support.
